Turning Point Denbighshire

Updated: Oct 8, 2019

Turning Point Denbighshire is a schools transition project, made possible by generous financial support from the Garfield Weston Foundation and the Arts Council of Wales' Creative Collaborations funding stream.

This project aims to deliver three main objectives:

1. Allow a high school to work with selected primary schools where a large proportion of the pupils will go on to attend that high school.

2. Provide bespoke 1:1 training for school staff by a professional dance practitioner, to support them in delivering creative dance sessions more consistently in school.

3. Signpost young people to dance opportunities in their area, to keep up the momentum of their enjoyment of dance.

Schools taking part in the project are:

Ysgol Bodnant

Ysgol Clawdd Offa

Ysgol Melyd

Ysgol Trelawnyd

Prestatyn High School

They will be joined at the performance in December 2019 by NEW Dance's Denbighshire Youth Dance Company, and the NEW Dance practitioners.

This is an exciting project which, we hope, will provide invaluable opportunities for schools to gain heavily subsidised dance tuition for their pupils, for the pupils themselves to perform and observe both other schools and professional dancers perform, and for the school staff to receive personal, individual training in the delivery of creative dance.
