Turning Point - Spring Term 2020
Funded by the Garfield Weston Foundation and the Arts Council of Wales, Turning Point is a transition project that will firstly enable high schools to directly target and work strategically with chosen primary schools. Secondly, the project will provide a training programme for school teaching staff in preparation for the new Welsh National Curriculum, and vital artistic nourishment for dance artists in the region. Thirdly, it will enable NEW Dance to signpost young dancers interested in furthering their interests in dance to NEW Dance’s existing programme of community based dance classes.
In the Spring Term 2020, NEW Dance are working with students from Ysgol Clywedog, Ysgol Rhostyllen, Ysgol Victoria, Ysgol Penygelli, Ysgol St. Giles, Ysgol Bwlchgwyn, Ysgol Morgan Llwyd, Ysgol Bodhyfryd, Ysgol Bryn Tabor, Ysgol Plas Coch, Ysgol Bro Alun and Ysgol ID Hooson. These schools will then come together for a performance for the participants' parents/guardians. This sharing will also feature dance pieces from NEW Dance's Denbighshire Youth Dance Company and NEW Dance practitioners, demonstrating the further opportunities in dance, both as a hobby and as a professional career.
